A timber-framed sanctuary nestled on the slopes above Zermatt, Switzerland's most iconic alpine resort, Cervo Mountain Boutique Resort is a place where guests can ski right up to the entrance—a small, almost private doorway that oozes exclusivity—with the majestic Matterhorn looming large on the horizon. When they step inside, the soothing smell of warm wood and a smiling face greets them. Wandering further into the building gives guests the comforting sensation of being immersed in a contemporary alpine wonderland. Local materials like felt, loden, and stone converge with vintage curios in the main building, a converted 1950s chalet that still has its original wooden floor. Young visionaries Daniel F. and Seraina Lauber merge contemporary lines and homey colors here, while a hunting theme imbues the central design concept. The curved, stylized antlers of a deer appear sporadically throughout the building (the word ‘cervo’ is Italian for deer).
Zermatt lies at the foot of the Matterhorn. The town's touristic development is closely linked to what is most probably the world's most famous mountain. The vacation destination is a car-free zone, has preserved its original character and offers nearly unlimited possibilities as far as excursions are concerned. The location of Zermatt at the foot of the Matterhorn and in the middle of an enormous hiking and ski region makes it one of the world's most attractive vacation villages. The ski region encompasses 54 mountain railways and lifts as well as 360 kilometers of pistes. The region called "Matterhorn glacier paradise" is Europe's largest and highest lying summer skiing region. Numerous national ski teams train here in the summer.
