After two years in the No.2 spot, Massimo Bottura’s tranquil restaurant in a Modena back street rightly steps up to take the global crown, reflecting the chef’s ongoing creativity, immense skill, undimmed passion and fierce determination to defy the odds. The ceremony took place at Cipriani Wall Street, New York.
Dominique Crenn, who runs Atelier Crenn and Petit Crenn restaurant in San Francisco, has been picked as The World’s Best Female Chef 2016, while Alain Passard received the Lifetime Achievement Award. Famed for his three Michelin starred Parisen restaurant Arpège, “The Maestro of Vegetable Cuisine” applies a strong vegetable centric approach to his cooking.
